Advantages and Benefits of Installing Solar Panels in France.

Posted on3 Years ago

1. The premium for photovoltaic self-consumption.

Since May 2017, every owner of photovoltaic panels can benefit from a self-consumption premium ranging from 90€ to 390€ per kilowatt-peak (kWp) installed. This premium is indexed according to the installation power of your park, and is paid over 5 years by EDF Obligation d'Achat once your connection request has been made to Enedis.

2. The reduced VAT rate.

A VAT reduction is also possible for the purchase and installation of photovoltaic panels with a power less than or equal to 3 kWp. The VAT rate will be reduced from 20% to 10%. It is not necessary to sell the surplus electricity produced to take advantage of this VAT reduction.

3. Exemption from income tax.

An owner of photovoltaic panels can also apply for a tax exemption on the sale of the electricity he produces. For this, the power of his installation must not exceed 3 kWp, his panels must not be used for professional activity and his installation must be connected to the public grid at a maximum of 2 points.

4. ANAH aid.

The installation of solar panels is also eligible for aid from ANAH (the National Agency for the Improvement of Housing).

5. Aid from local authorities.

Finally, some local authorities offer local aid for individuals wishing to install photovoltaic panels in their homes. You should therefore check with your local town hall to find out whether you are eligible for local aid.
